What counts as a special character?

Any character that is not a letter, digit, or whitespace is counted as a special character. This includes punctuation, symbols, and emoji.

Does it count emoji correctly?

Emoji are counted using JavaScript's string length, which may count some complex emoji (like flags or skin-tone variants) as multiple characters due to Unicode encoding.

Is my text stored anywhere?

No. All processing happens in your browser. Your text never leaves your device.
